How to Apply Project Lighting Properly

Lighting engineering reference is the International Lighting Commission CIE "Guidelines for Projection Illumination". In the recommended illumination standards, for different materials of building surface, given in different illumination recommended values. It sums up the fabrics which are widely used at present, and corrects them according to the light source and surface condition.

(1) floodlighting: floodlighting, also known as facade lighting and lighting. It is located at a certain distance from the garden building as a light source for elevation lighting, the light directly projected to a plane or three-dimensional object surface, to show its existence, and its appearance or appearance to show. For garden buildings and structures, their lighting effects not only show the overall architectural landscape, but also the building shape, three-dimensional sense, decorative color and decorative details can be effectively displayed. Flooding lighting objects mainly include garden building facades, roofs, corridors, bridges, sculptures, fountains, waterfalls and trees. The floodlighting effect of facade of garden building is directly influenced by materials.

Owing to the fire protection requirement of ancient buildings, floodlighting needs to be set at a certain distance from the building. Generally, the lamps and lanterns selected here are not suitable for small lamps and lanterns. The power of the light source should not be too small. The angle of the light beam should not be too wide. Generally, narrow or medium beam angles are used. The lamps and lanterns avoid larger light loss and glare interference. Direct projection of light into the roof, so that the brightness of the roof is higher than the surrounding brightness, it can show the roof panorama. For sloping roofs of ancient Chinese buildings, in order to ensure adequate projection light, the projection lamp should be set outside the extension line of sloping roofs.

(2) Inside light penetration: The method is suitable for expressing the hollow part of the building, such as carved doors, windows, arches, colonnades and so on. This way of lighting because of the shading and weakening of expression is also weak, need to be combined with other ways.

Internal light transmission has advantages in reducing visual pollution and light pollution. At the same time, specific to the various transparent windows, lighting and user-related opening, because of the user's "public participation", the color and mechanism of the building in different periods of time is changing, which makes the building space has a fourth-dimensional change.

(3) Outline lighting: using string lights, neon lights, Maynet lights, light pipes, all-in-one luminous fiber and other linear lighting directly outline the building. For example, a neon lamp or bunch of incandescent lights placed at the edges of a building to highlight and display its special outline, while weakening its details, or using a precisely adjusted outline of the light, will require the shape to be outlined only by light, leaving the rest in darkness and behind the background. It has a remarkable effect on the atmosphere.

Illumination that projects light onto the back of an object or creates a negative outline through a bright background is called negative outline illumination. Negative contour illumination can distinguish the main structure from its details, which is more suitable for non-main structure, such as corridors, decorative components on buildings, etc. These parts of the negative contour lighting treatment combined with the main building illumination and other ways, can produce a wonderful light effect.

(4) searching lighting: searching lighting beam is narrow and high brightness, combined with digital imaging technology to illuminate garden buildings can form a beautiful projection, can be seen from a distance, not only beautiful, but also the use of a variety of patterns of beams for three-dimensional modeling performance. It is more suitable for the application during the festival, so that the whole venue night scene appears warm and magnificent, for the festival night scene.

Ancient building lighting is different from other building lighting in the "ancient" word, because of the non-renewable resources, its design as little as possible to affect the ancient building itself, the premise of the design should be in the protection of ancient buildings under the relevant norms, we need to pay attention to: first, the minimum intervention, ancient building lighting as little as possible. It affects the structure of the building itself and the landscape effect in the daytime, but at night it can be seen that the landscape effect is different from that in the daytime. The second is the authenticity, including the details of the light source, light color, light intensity, the overall effect of how to maintain the unity of architectural style. And whether the light level and intensity of light will have a negative impact on ancient buildings.
